Sponsoring Overseas Workers and Immigration
New Immigration Contact to help you
Restaurant and Catering Australia (RCA) has farewelled Suzanne Gillham as liaison officer for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and welcomes Satinder Pasricha to his new role.
Over the past 15 months, Suzanne has provided information and support to RCA members and staff, helping members access department programs to fill their labour needs. Satinder will continue this service whilst being based at the RCA office in Artarmon, Sydney. Satinder says that being posted into RCA is a great way to understand the industry and to connect with members.
Satinder has worked with the department for more than 13 years and brings a broad range of experience and knowledge to the immigration liaison position. Members may have seen Satinder in some episodes of the TV program, ‘Border Security’, on Channel 7. He looks forward to learning more about how Immigration can help in your need for skilled workers.
The department offers a number of temporary and permanent visa options for skilled workers. Satinder can give you information to help you choose the most suitable option and fastest outcome.
For example, some members may employ Working Holiday Maker (WHM) visa holders. WHM visa holders can work for the full 12-month duration of their stay in Australia but are limited to a maximum of six months’ work with any one employer.
Satinder says that employers should check the visa status and work entitlements of an overseas national they may be intending to employ. This can be achieved through use of the Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) system, a free internet based service available to all employers.
VEVO gives you current visa information and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For more information and to register for VEVO, employers should go to:
